There is a fair amount of repetition in this story. Repetition for emphasis! The child just learning to read memorises the word sequence and BELIEVES that they can read. Pure delight.

The young child just loves saying NO. So the question Emma Owl asks each friend can be met with such enthusiasm!

For the older child we can compare how we differ from, or are the same as each character in the story. Also what makes each one special? For example. I have eyes, the cat has eyes but the cat can see very well in the dark.

The important message in this story is that although we are different we are all special in our own way. A very important lesson in life.
